Abbott Updates Its Proactive Voluntary Recall of Certain Similac® Brand Powder Infant Formulas

Abbott recently updated its proactive voluntary recall to include three additional lot numbers of Similac powder infant formula products. This action is a follow up to a recall Abbott announced on September 22, 2010 of certain Similac brand powdered infant formula that did not meet the company's high quality standards.

Additional products are limited to:

• Similac Advance with Iron Powder (8 oz can)
  • Lot #: 624177Y10
  • Use By Date: 1May2011
• Similac Advance Early Shield Powder (12.9 oz can)
  • Lot #: 67376RB6
  • Use By Date: 1Aug2011
• Similac Sensitive for Spit-Up Powder (12.3 oz can)
  • Lot #: 92597RB7
  • Use By Date: 1Sep2012

If you have any affected product, please stop using it and follow the instructions provided below or contact the Abbott Consumer hotline at 1-800-986-8850.

This is not a new recall. This update does NOT apply to any other powder product with different lot codes and it does not apply to any of the Similac containers manufactured after the recall with the lot code "SH" stamped on the bottom of the container.

Every effort is being made to ensure that all consumers who purchased Similac product or received Similac as a sample have been notified and provided resources to confirm whether they have product that has been affected.

To determine if your product is affected:

• Find your product lot number on the bottom of your container and enter it here.
• Review a list of all recalled lot numbers

To be reimbursed for affected product:

• Products with affected lot numbers should be returned to Abbott at no cost to the consumer.
